HIBALL Winter School celebrates its second edition

Participants from Jülich and Montreal connected via an interactive live stream.

On February 9-10, HIBALL (Helmholtz International BigBrain Analytics & Learning Laboratory) organised the second edition of the HIBALL Winter School, a teaching event to work with BigBrain and its different tools. The BigBrain project is an open access platform that enables brain mapping by building highly detailed 3D brain models at microscopic resolution with the help of state-of-the-art machine learning methods and high-performance computing infrastructures.

Participants that had already worked with BigBrain and others that wanted to get started joined the event on-site in Jülich and Montreal at the same time to learn and talk to the experts. Although both cities have different times, the event could be successfully organised during two days.

Hiball is the funding umbrella for the BigBrain Project and aims  to strengthen the successful partnership between McGill University and Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ). It establishes a close collaboration with CIFAR and MILA in Canada, and Helmholtz AI in Germany.
