Helmholtz AI Roadshow brought AI Solutions to Health Researchers at HZI
On Thursday, September 21, the Helmholtz AI consulting team for health held a roadshow at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI). The consulting roadshow events are a significant step towards democratizing access to artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) solutions for researchers within the Helmholtz Association, with this one specifically having a primary focus on health-related projects.
The event kicked off with a general session held on-site at HZI, aimed at providing an overview of the Helmholtz AI initiative and introducing the consulting team for health. Helmholtz AI consultant Lisa Barros de Andrade e Sousa led the session, sharing insights on how AI can empower researchers within the Helmholtz Association. Engaging talks by experts in the field were featured, including those of Dilfuza Djamalova, Mahyar Valizadeh, and Harsha Subramanian, who presented examples of AI applications in health research, ranging from gene essentiality prediction to modelling the interplay of environmental factors on cardiovascular health.
Following the presentations, a Q&A session allowed participants to delve deeper into the topics discussed, promoting a robust exchange of ideas and knowledge. Afterwards, participants had the opportunity to network and engage in discussions with the Helmholtz AI consultant team. This half-hour networking session provided attendees with a chance to connect with experts and explore potential collaborations.
Research groups could apply for one-on-one AI consulting dedicated timeslots to discuss specific questions related to their data analysis challenges. These consulting sessions provide a unique opportunity for researchers to receive tailored guidance and explore how AI and ML could enhance their ongoing projects.
Collaborations with the Helmholtz AI consultant team are cost- free for Helmholtz Association researchers, aligning with the goal of democratizing access to AI resources and maximizing the impact of research within the association. Our roadshows combine informative sessions, networking opportunities, and personalized consulting to empower Helmholtz researchers to leverage AI and ML effectively in their endeavours.
